A bit about this tartan...

A brand new Welsh tartan designed in celebration of the belief in Arthurian myth and legend, with the suggestion Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island off the Llyn Peninsular, North Wales) is the Island Of Apples or ’Ynys Afallon – Avalon’. The colours are derived from the lilac and amethyst heathers and the various grey rocks surrounding the island. The dark base is in celebration of the islands 'best night sky' status, a prestigious award gained in 2023. You can read more about this by clicking here.

The legendary island of Avalon first appeared in the Historia Regum Britanniae (The History of the Kings of Britain), written by Geoffrey of Monmouth in 1136. Geoffrey claims this is the birthplace of King Arthur's sword, Excalibur, and also where he was taken to recover from the Battle of Camlann (Gwaith Camlan or Brwydr Camlan in Welsh) in which he was gravely wounded.

This is a universal tartan, which anyone can wear, from a tie or scarf to a full kilt regalia!

An interesting perspective - If you're looking for an interesting read on Avalon, try 'I don't believe in Avalon, but I know where it is.' by John F Wake, available on Amazon in Kindle edition and paperback. We certainly recommend it!
